This is the story of Katy’s progress from the initial appointment on 18th February to 10th March 2007
Katy is a young career woman who had been troubled by the onset of abdominal discomfort at unpredictable times. Katy worried about her Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) because it would play her up when there were important meetings or busy times at work. The discomfort did not confine itself just to times at work.
The Symptoms
Very often, Katy woke up with a knotted feeling inside, and abdominal cramps would begin. Sometimes Katy was really bloated, like a football. The symptoms were unpredictable; they would come and go, and Katy would have some good days and some bad days. Katy was troubled by uncomfortable abdominal pain about 2 or 3 times a week. This meant that the fear of the discomfort starting at a really inconvenient time played on Katy’s mind. Sometimes, Katy felt a wave of panic on the way to work, thinking “What if” as she drove in.
Business lunches were no fun
When Katy was having a business lunch, she found it difficult to eat anything because she was so worried in case it set things off. The day before Katy’s appointment for the Resolution Programme with me, she had felt completely drained, having gone to the loo repeatedly all day.
Katy began the Resolution Programme
On the 18th February 2007, Katy arrived for her appointment. Katy went through all of the exercises that form the Resolution Programme therapy. Afterwards, Katy was shown how to do the Active Therapy that she would practise whenever symptoms began.
At first, there was no improvement
At first, when Katy began to use the Active Therapy, there was little change. Every week, Katy received a telephone call as part of the programme. This is done to support people all the way through to complete resolution of their symptoms. I advised Katy that it is perfectly normal for there to be no immediate change, and encouraged her to continue with the active routine. After two weeks on the programme, Katy began to feel some real changes.
Progress after the first few weeks
On 9th March, I asked Katy how her symptoms were. Katy said that she was feeling so much better. She had been on the programme for a few weeks, and it was a good time to look back at the list of original symptoms to see how they had changed.
How is that knotted feeling now?
Now, when Katy wakes up, she no longer finds she has a knotted feeling inside.
Anxiety?
Katy used to begin to feel anxious about the day ahead when she had an uncomfortable feeling first thing in the morning. She was so pleased that didn’t happen any more.
Bloating?
Katy was delighted that she had not bloated up like a football once since the therapy session.
Unable to enjoy a business lunch?
At business lunches, Katy used to feel really uncomfortable with the first mouthful of food, but now she has forgotten all about that, and can enjoy eating normally.
Running to the loo all day?
Katy no longer suffers days like those when she used to run many times to the loo. As she drives into work these days, she is confident that every day will be a normal day.
Confidence
Katy is now confident about business meetings. These used to be a real cause for concern, because Katy would often feel the abdominal discomfort beginning before a meeting. Katy is now looking forward to being able to enjoy every day at work without having to think about her old problems.
Katy is now on the panel
There is a list of past clients who are happy to share their experiences with future clients before they begin the Resolution Programme. These people know how their willingness to speak to others can help other people to understand that this programme actually works, and that others can get right back to normal once again. Katy was so pleased with the results of the Resolution Programme, she volunteered to help others by being on the panel, and she also agreed to a filmed interview and this article to be published on the website.
